Emergency Shelter & Assistance
The South Dakota Housing Development Authority works to provide affordable housing for all South Dakotans. Part of this goal requires providing
assistance to individuals who are homeless and those who are at risk of becoming homeless. The Continuum of Care and the Security Deposit Assistance
are two programs that can help individuals who are at risk of becoming homeless.
South Dakota Housing for the Homeless Consortium
The South Dakota Housing for the Homeless Consortium brings together separate organizations with the common goal of eliminating homelessness.
They can assist individuals in finding and maintaining permanent housing options. If you feel that you meet the assistance requirements contact the
Consortium to find out how they can help you
Security Deposit Assistance Program
The Security Deposit Assistance was created to provide funding to eligible applicants for use in emergency situations to prevent homelessness or to
assist persons in transitional housing to secure permanent rental housing. If you find yourself in these situations contact your local Public Housing
Authorities to find out if you qualify (contact information can be found on the
Security Deposit Assistance website).
